의학의 모든 분야가 그렇겠지만 생식의학 파트도 나날이 발전이 이루어져 1판을 출시한 직후부터 개정의 필요성을 항상 느껴왔다. 이번 2판에서는 그간 생식의학 분야에서 이루어진 변화를 적절히 반영하고 특히 급속도로 변모하는 난임 분야에서도 변경된 사항을 반영하였다. 또한 1판에서 다루지 못했던 반복유산 분야도 Speroff 교과서 9판의 내용을 일부 반영하여 새롭게 추가하였다. 반복유산을 다루다 보니 유전학에 대한 부연 설명도 필요하다고 판단되어 유전학도 새로운 챕터로 추가하였는데 여기에는 매우 기본적인 개념만 들어 있으므로 최근 개발된 유전자검사, 병인성 변이, 보인자검사, NGS 등에 대해서는 다른 교과서로 심도 있게 공부하는 것을 추천한다. 더불어 맨 마지막 챕터로 셀프평가 문항집을 마련하여 자가 학습이 되게 하였다. 해당 내분비 분야 교과서를 찾아보면서 문제를 익힌다면 생식의학 분야를 공부하는 데에도 큰 도움이 될 것이다. 전공의 및 전임의 수련 기간 동안 많은 공부를 해야 하는 것은 자명하다. 수련 기간 동안 공부한 것이 향후 의사로서의 진료 원칙을 확고히 하고 진료 행태를 결정한다는 점에서 수련 기간 동안 제대로 공부하는 것은 매우 중요하다고 본다. 물론 수련을 마친 후에도 최신 지식을 습득하려는 노력을 게을리해서는 안 되겠다. 수가체계에서 100% 본인부담은 ‘D-code’로, 비급여는 ‘S-code’로 표기하였다. 1판과 마찬가지로 참고문헌은 따로 정리하지 않고 글 중간에 (저널명 년도;권수:시작페이지) 형태로 삽입하였다. 모쪼록 본 가이드북이 생식의학을 공부하는데 유용한 길라잡이가 되었으면 하는 바람이다.
